Ziarat District was destroyed by earthquake on 29-10-08, Jahandad Society for Community Development (JSCD) established relief camps at 3 selected villages namely Killi Khan Payo, Killi Vaam Kotal and Killi Kandepot Dobona and took responsibility to rehabilitate 100 families having 598 individuals and erected 100 tents for a period of eight months.

A team from Disaster Management Center Abbottabad (DMC) comprising of Dr.Noaman Siddiqui and Dr. Ejaz Afzal Khan  participated in relief activities including distribution of relief goods amongst earthquake affected people of the area  from December the 4thto 6th 2008. For theses activities Disaster Relief by Irish & Pakistanis (DRIP) provided funds of Rs.200000/- Rupees two hundred thousands only.

The administrative camp of JSCD was established in Killi Khan Payo, under the supervision of Prof. Yasmin Raashid. In the first phase of this rehabilitation attempt, the families were provided with the following items for this purpose Rs.252000/- were provided by the Disaster Management Center in collaboration with Disaster Relief by Irish & Pakistanis Ireland:
  • Winterized tents for shelter
  • Blankets, quilts, plastic floor, roof sheets,
  • Gas heaters and household utensils including the followings:
    • A small & a big pot for cooking
    • 6 plates, 6 cups,                                                                                         
    • a frying pan i.e. tawa,
    • a kettle,
    • a knife,
    • a bucket,
    • 1 parat,
    • 1 stove, match boxes and candles etc.

DMC In collaboration with DRIP Ireland also provided JSCD with funds for the regular provision of ration to all inhabitants of the three villages. The ration was distributed after every 15 days to all the families according to the number of family members. Ration includes the followings:

  • 30 kg flour (Atta)                                                             
  • 10 kg rice
  • 3 kg sugar
  • 5 kg ghee                                                                                
  • 2 packet tea
  • 5 kg daal
  • dry milk
